April 8, 2000

Hi Folks,

I hope all is well with all of you. April and I thought it was time to update a few things and let you know what's been going on lately and what's ahead.

In March I hosted a charity golf tournament at Newport Beach Country Club for The Parent Project. The Parent Project is currently raising money for research in the fight against Duchene Muscular Dystrophy. DMD is a genetic disease that affects only young boys. Their life span is greatly diminished but through the work of the Parent Project we will find a cure. I also went to Cathedral City, California for the Cathedral City Fire Department. We did a miniature golf tournament for charity.

Saturday, April 8th I'll be spending the day with my family at the Point Mugu Air Show and then on Sunday the 9th, I leave for Austin, Texas for the Lone Star Golf Classic, hosted by Doug English. Doug's tournament is working very hard to find a way to reverse spinal cord injuries. I believe we can do it. I return home on the 11th.

April 12, I'll be participating in a celebrity motorcycle parade at Universal Studios Citywalk. I, along with Branscomb Richmond and other celebrities, will be riding to celebrate the new extension of Citywalk including the new Hollywood Harley-Davidson.

April 15, I leave for the Alice Cooper Celebrity Golf Tournament in Phoenix, Arizona. This should be a great event. On Saturday we will all take part in the "MTX/Alice Cooper - TRAFFIC JAM 2000". That night is the big gala with Alice and celebrity friend performing and jamming. Sunday and Monday are both golf days. We are playing the McCormick Ranch Golf Club Pavilion. After golf on Monday, they five out the awards and then back to L.A. I love Alice Cooper. He is the best. They always refer to Alice and me as the "LONG HAIRS".

April 24, I check into the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas for the National Rural Alcohol and Drug Abuse Network's Third Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament. We play the beautiful Las Vegas National Country Club. A great golf course and a very worthwhile charity. Back home on the 27th and then the big event.

On April 28th my wife and I will travel to Baldwin Park, CA to check in for the Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America. (My wife will go back home on Sunday, the 30th but she will have a FAX waiting for me at every hotel). My motorcycle is crated up and being shipped from North Carolina and it will arrive in Baldwin Park the morning of the 28th. I am actually riding one of Kyle Petty's personal motorcycles. I could not ride my Castle motorcycle because it only has a 4 gallon tank. In order to keep all of the stops on schedule, every motorcycle must have a 5 gallon tank.

On April 29th we will be doing a "safety first" check out for all the new riders of the event. I will take part in the check up, first because I believe it's a good thing to do and second, I will be riding someone else's motorcycle. I want Kyle to feel at ease, me riding his bike. By the way, April is coming in on Saturday to visit and take some photos. I'm sure they will be up on the site soon.

On Sunday, April 30th, we will do several laps around California Motor Speedway in front of the crowds there for the NASCAR race. When we pull out of the speedway, we are on our way.

Here is the route we will take:

April 30 ----- Baldwin Park, CA to Prescott, AZ ----- 362 miles

May 1 ------- Prescott, AZ to Durango, CO ------------ 449 miles

May 2 ------- Durango, CO to Amarillo, TX ------------- 504 miles

May 3 ------- Amarillo, TX to Tulsa, OK ----------------- 368 miles

May 4 ------- Tulsa, OK to Memphis, TN --------------- 402 miles

May 5 ------- Memphis, TN to Charleston, WV ------- 604 miles

May 6 ------- Charleston, WV to Richmond, VA ------ 312 miles

May 7 ------- Richmond, VA to Trinity, NC ------------- 219 miles

Total:3,220 miles!

Wish me luck and say a prayer for safe travel for everyone on the ride. I hope I make it. On May 8th I fly back home and go straight into the hospital. I hope I don't do that. I will check in with April and try to keep everyone updated. If you are close to any of these stops, be sure and say hello. At least come by and see the ride as we go through your town.

We end up in Trinity, NC, the home of Kyle Petty. We have a big concert at Kyle's farm on May 7th.

Some month, huh? Till next time, all my personal best and God Bless!

Mickey
